Welcome to the AAF Southwest Virginia Member Spotlight Series where we highlight one of our great members in the advertising and related industries in Southwest Virginia. In this part of the series, we meet Danielle Lamson of Highlands Community Services.
Who are you and what organization (if applicable) do you represent?
My name is Danielle Lamson and I’m Communications Manager at Highlands Community Services.
Tell us about your business and what you do.
I manage internal and external communications for Highlands Community Services (HCS) – a multi-site behavioral health agency that serves and HCS is a Virginia Community Service Board, providing mental health, substance abuse, and intellectual disability services to over 5,000 people each year.
What made you decide to join AAF SWVA (either individually or as an organization?)
I decided to join AAF SWVA, on behalf of HCS, because I wanted to be connected to others who work in the same field…to collaborate and to network. Also, we are doing some pretty awesome things here at HCS, and I’m always looking for ways to highlight them!
What do you enjoy most about AAF SWVA?
I enjoy the camaraderie and the opportunity to see all the interesting work being done in our industry within the various businesses in our area.
What would be one “pro tip” you can share with our membership which will make their lives better or easier?
Work hard to build good relationships with the news media. Only feed them newsworthy material. Never waste their time. Never. Ever.
